Upgrades

Equipment>>

Upgrades in Destiny, are certain bonuses that can be applied to Weapons and Armor once you have earned enough experience with that piece of equipment. These generally cost
Glimmer
,
Weapon Parts
or other
Materials

. Starting from Uncommon equipment on up you will see these upgrades. The higher the quality of the gear, the more upgrades it will come with.

To upgrade your equipment, go into your character menu and look for a large green circle with a + sign in it. Push Triangle on PS4/PS3 or Y on Xbox One/360 to go into that upgrade menu.

Gun Upgrades

There are different types of upgrades and each Weapon of Uncommon quality or better comes with random ones pulled from specific pools, with the exception being a few Legendaries and all Exotics (you can see exactly which ones on each Weapon's page)

The Upgrade types are

Upgrade_Damage.png DAMAGE UPGRADE - The Damage Upgrade increases the Attack Stat of the weapon. Every Uncommon, Rare, Legendary or Exotic weapon comes with this upgrade. It is one of the more expensive upgrades for a Weapon, sometimes costing nearly 1000 Glimmer and other Materials.
Grenadier.png WEAPON UPGRADES - Weapon upgrades give a random bonus property to said Weapon. These might include a chance to do more damage or faster reloading etc.
Red_Dot-OAS.png SIGHTS - These upgrades change the sight view of Rifles and Hand Cannons. They may give more or less zoom and sometimes increase or decrease Weapon Stats like range, stability or reload.
EagleEye_SLR20.png SCOPES- Scope Upgrades change the zoom, range and stability of Sniper Rifles.
Field_Choke.png BARRELS - Ballistics upgrades affect the overall handling of a Shotguns and Pulse Rifles and Machine Guns. They can affect just about any Weapon Stat, but with a focus on stability and range.
Armor_Piercing_Rounds.png ENHANCEMENT UPGRADES - Enhancement Upgrades are only found on Rare, Legendary and Exotic Weapons. They improve characteristics about the gun: handling, reload, ammo etc.
Soft_Launch.png LAUNCH UPGRADES - These upgrades affect the range, stability and impact of Rocket Launchers.
Colony_Warhead.png WARHEAD UPGRADES - These upgrades effect ammo, ammo reserve and the impact of Rocket Launcher shells.

All Uncommon Hunter Armor in Destiny comes with an Upgrade, except for the legs. These upgrades are determined randomly from the pools below. The only differences between Uncommon Armors are cosmetic and the amount of Defense it can provide.

  • INVERSE SHADOW - Increased Super energy from killing minions of the Darkness.
  • ASHES TO ASSET - Replenish Super energy when you kill an enemy with a grenade.
  • INFUSION - Replenishs health every time you pick up an Orb of Light.
  • INNERVATION - Reduces grenade cooldown each time you pick up an Orb of Light.
  • INVIGORATION - melee cooldown each time you pick up an Orb of Light.



Chest
